Join us for Cru’s Fall Getaway for a weekend to getaway from campus, build relationships with friends new and old, and spend some awesome time with God! We’ll worship and hear from God’s word, take in the beautiful fall colors, play games, eat too much Steak’n’Shake, sleep too little, and come away from the weekend refreshed in our walk with God and our relationships with each other.
Location: Lake James Camp (Map)
1880 W. 275 N.
Angola, IN
Lake James is located in Angola, Indiana, in the northeast corner of Indiana near the Michigan and Ohio borders. The camp has activities to suit anyone including football, basketball, octo-ball, volleyball, and a game room. There are places to hang out with others and places to get off by yourself. If you need to study, there’s free time to do homework Saturday afternoon, too!
Speaker: Rick James
Rick James graduated from Syracuse University with a bachelor of fine arts degree. He has worked writing ads and commercials as an Art Director with an advertising agency in New York City. However, after a series of spiritual “coincidences,” Rick and his wife, Katie, felt God was leading them into full-time Christian ministry. Responding to that call, without be quite sure of where God was leading them, Rick resigned from his advertising job and by faith walked away from Madison Avenue. Soon after, they joined staff with Cru where they served at Rutgers before serving in various executive roles in Cru.
Rick James currently serves as Publisher of Crupress (crupress.com) and is responsible for writing and producing ministry resources for the Campus Ministry. Rick is also a traveling speaker for Cru, speaking on campuses and at conferences across the U.S. His books include Flesh: An Unbreakable Habit of Purity in a Pornographic World, Jesus Without Religion (IVP, 2007), and A Million Ways to Die (Cook, 2010).
